The Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) is a technological centre that studies the behavior of the human body and its interaction with products, environments and services. Founded in 1976, the Institute is currently coordinated under the agreement of the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE) and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

With the aim to improve competitiveness among the business sector, the IBV promotes people’s well-being through the combination of knowledge in areas such as biomechanics, ergonomics and emotional engineering, and its application to diverse sectors.

 

  • Automobile and mass transport

     

    The activities of the IBV in the field are addressed to business sectors:

    • Producing, distributing or marketing automobiles
    • Producing, distributing or marketing elements and systems used in automobiles (auxiliary industry)
    • Producing, distributing or marketing collective means of transport (buses, trains, airplanes, ships, etc.)
    • Producing, distributing or marketing elements and systems used in collective means of transport (auxiliary industry)

  • Sport

    The activities of the IBV in the field are addressed to business sectors:

    • Promoting, building or managing sports facilities
    • Producing, distributing or marketing equipment used in sports facilities (flooring, baskets, goals, collective protection systems, etc.)
    • Producing, distributing or marketing products for sports and physical activities (bicycles, balls, helmets, rackets, personal protection systems, etc.)
    • Producing, distributing or marketing systems used to perform, follow-up and monitor physical activities and sports (fitness equipments, ergometers, sports techniques analysis and improvement systems, etc.)

  • Habitat

    The activities of the IBV in the field are addressed to business sectors:

    • Promoting, building or managing residential and public buildings and facilities
    • Producing, distributing or marketing equipment comprised in residential and public buildings and facilities (flooring, doors, communication systems, lighting, sound, surveillance, etc.)
    • Producing, distributing or marketing products and equipment to be provided in residential and public buildings and facilities (furniture, electrical appliances, etc.)

  • Clothing

    The activities of the IBV in the field are addressed to business sectors:

    • Producing, distributing or marketing footwear, clothing and other elements and accessories
    • Producing, distributing or marketing materials and elements to manufacture footwear, clothing and other elements and accessories

  • Elderly people and Ageing

    The activities of the IBV in the field are addressed to business sectors:

    • Promoting, building or managing care homes and nursing homes
    • Offering services addressed to elderly people and people with disabilities
    • Producing, distributing or marketing assistive technologies

  • Rehabilitation and personal autonomy

    The activities of the IBV in the field are addressed to business sectors:

    • Offering rehabilitation and assessment services
    • Producing, distributing or marketing rehabilitation and assessment systems

  • Health in the workplace

    The activities of the IBV in the field are addressed to business sectors:

    • Offering services aiming to improve health among workers and to improve workplaces (prevention services, healthcare insurance companies, etc.)
    • Producing, distributing or marketing personal and collective health protection products and systems for workers
    • Producing, distributing or marketing machinery, tools and systems inherent to workplaces
    • And companies concerned about improving their workers’ health and adapting their workplaces to functional limitations

  • Healthcare technology

    The activities of the IBV in the field are addressed to business sectors:

    • Offering health services
    • Producing, distributing or marketing healthcare products

  • Tourism and leisure
