Innovative ways of banking designed by and for the elderly (BANK4ELDER)

The project’s main aim is to develop user-friendly interfaces to foster elderly people’s access to banking services via automatic cashpoints, the Internet, television and mobile smartphones.

Aims

The project’s main aim is to develop user-friendly interfaces to foster elderly people’s access to banking services via automatic cashpoints, the Internet, television and smartphones.

Hence, the intention is to create an easy-to-use environment for elderly people that is multimodal, ubiquitous and can be personalised or adapted. Being multimodal means it allows for full access via smartphone, cashpoints, television and the Internet through interfaces adapted to elderly people’s needs as regards functionality, accessibility, usability and aesthetics. Furthermore, the interfaces’ “intelligence” will mean they can be adapted to each user, personalizing them to their own characteristics.

Lastly, the project’s innovative side is also seen in elderly people’s participation throughout the project, from defining their needs and services until the pilot for assessment under real conditions of use; and also in the use of groundbreaking methods to evaluate interaction with the interfaces based on the user’s emotional response and behaviour.
