FitWork project kick-off meeting

The Instituto de Biomecanica (IBV) hosted last 6th of February, the kick-off meeting of the project "Good practices to develop physical activity programs at work", FITWORK (Ref. 2016-3600 / 001-001). It is a project co-financed by the Erasmus + program of the European Union.

The objective of the project, coordinated by Instituto de Biomecanica, is to promote physical activity at work taking into account the ergonomic risks of workplaces. To this end, a guide of good practices will be developed for prevention technicians and sports professionals and it will help them to define the most appropriate physical activity programs for each worker.

To get this main objective, some specific objectives has to be reached also:

  • to define specific exercises taking into account musculoskeletal risks of people at work,
  • to design physical activity programs at work to reduce musculoskeletal injury risks,
  • to introduce in this programs motivational aspects,
  • to define good practices to develop physical activity programs at work, and
  • to disseminate these good practices with the aim of reaching as much professionals as possible.


The project partners of this consortium are the following entities:

  • Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) (Spain): project coordinator and expert in ergonomic risk assessment of the workplace.
  • Coimbra University (CU) (Portugal): Expert in physical activity and sports sciences, they will be in charge of the development and implementation of physical activity programs.
  • Technische Universitate Eindhoven (TU/e) (Holland): Expert in motivational aspects and development of persuasive technologies, they will incorporate the motivation and adherence to the programs of promotion of the health in the jobs.
  • KOMAG (Poland): Company in which the pilot test will be carried out.
  • ROMTENS (Romania): experts in occupational health.

 

In addition, the project counts with collaboration of ENWHP (European Network of Workplace Health Promotion) and INNEX, Italian company that will also participate in the pilot test as end user.
