In the framework of the Back-Up project, IBV has set up WAAS / IBV system for the biomechanical evaluation of the cervical spine in the Department of General Psychology of the University of Pádova.
The system will be used in order to perform biomechanical tests of cervical simulation by the working group of Giuseppe Sartori, an international reference in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychology and in Forensic Psychopathology.
The aim of Back-UP project is to create a prognostic model to support more effective and efficient management of Neck and Low Back Pain (NLBP), based on the digital representation of multidimensional clinical information, and in-silico assessments of possible interventions. Back-Up project will develop personalized forecast models to improve wellbeing and job re-employment after having suffered a cervical or lumbar injury.
In this sense WAAS / IBV provides information on the functional status of the person assessed through two parameters: Mobility and speed. This is contrasted and objective information, which supports the diagnosis of neck pains associated with traffic accidents, such as the whiplash syndrome . In addition, WAAS / IBV provides information on the collaboration of the person assessed in making a sincere effort during the test.
Instituto de Biomecánica has been an internationally prestigious institution in biomechanical for more than 40 years that has developed this objective, agile, simple and cost-effective biomechanical assessment system for the evaluation of whiplash syndrome by traffic accident, based on scientifically validated methodologies.
